Eversheds and Södermark merge to create new business law firm of the future
International law firm Eversheds and Swedish firm Advokatfirman Södermark have announced they will merge to become one of the leading business law firms in Sweden. The move is in response to clients increasing need for high quality legal advice that provides value for money and an international outlook.
The new full service firm will officially start to practice from January 2010 in Sodermark's extended office premises on Strandvägen 1, Stockholm. Advokatfirman Södermark is one of Sweden's oldest and most reputable law firms, offering cutting edge competence in several business legal areas with a particularly strong litigation profile. Seven partners will join the firm from Sodermark.
Head of International Operations Stephen Hopkins said:
"The merger reflects businesses' demand for a firm with a track record for delivering consistent, high quality, multi-jurisdictional legal advice."
Eversheds, Sweden Managing Partner, Jonas Bratt, comments:
"Eversheds' strategy and international strength, combined with Advokatfirman Södermark's strong domestic position, creates a very powerful law firm. Eversheds and Södermark have set an ambitious strategy for growth, with the explicit goal to gradually strengthen and develop our role in Eversheds's international activities. Through the merger we are building a law firm of the future".
Bertil Brinck from Advokatfirman Södermark added:
"We see strong potential for the new law firm. We complement each other very well; Advokatfirman Södermark has a long and solid tradition, whilst Eversheds offers an international, modern and progressive platform for growth."
The move to merge has been backed by Bertil Södermark, whose father and uncle founded Advokatfirman Södermark in 1925: "I am very pleased that the firm has taken this step into the future".
